About

Hi, I'm Rachel.

I'm a licensed mental health counselor based on the Upper East Side, and I work with teens, young adults, and adults who are navigating the noise of growing up, becoming themselves, and figuring out what comes next.

Rachel Troob, LMHC — therapist on the Upper East Side

Training & background

Clinical training, human approach.

I earned my Master's in Education and Master's in Philosophy in Education from the University of Pennsylvania School of Education, and my Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Miami School of Education and Human Development.

My background in education shapes how I think about therapy: I believe real change happens when people feel safe enough to be honest, curious enough to question their patterns, and supported enough to try something new.

Education

  • University of Pennsylvania School of Education — M.S.Ed, M.Phil.Ed
  • University of Miami School of Education and Human Development — B.S.Ed
  • Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York State

Why I do this

I've been there too.

I know what it's like to feel like the world is getting louder while you're still trying to figure out your own voice. I started this practice because I wanted to create a space that feels less clinical and more like a real conversation with someone who actually gets it.

My style is warm, direct, and tailored to you. I don't believe in one-size-fits-all therapy, clipboards, or generic advice. I do believe in showing up honestly, asking the right questions, and helping you find clarity in a world that loves to keep you confused.

Whether you're a teen trying to survive high school, a young adult building a life that feels like yours, or an adult realizing it's time to make a change — I'm here for the real stuff.
