FAQ

Questions, answered.

Starting therapy can feel like a lot. Here are answers to the things people usually want to know first.

What should I expect in a first session?

The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. We will talk about what's bringing you in, what you're hoping to get out of therapy, and whether working together feels like the right fit. There's no pressure to have it all figured out.

How do I know I'm ready for therapy / if this is for me?

If you're noticing the same patterns, feelings, or questions showing up again and again — or if something just feels off and you're not sure why — therapy can help. You don't need to be in crisis or have everything figured out. Curiosity and a willingness to talk are enough to start. I offer a complimentary 15-minute consultation so you can ask questions, get a sense of my approach, and decide if it feels like the right fit.

How long will I be in therapy?

Therapy looks different for everyone. Some people come for support during a specific chapter, while others find value in having therapy as a consistent part of their lives. And therapy doesn't have to be just for when something is wrong—it can simply be a space that's yours to reflect, grow, and better understand yourself. You may decide to take a break and come back when you could use some extra support. There's no one "right" timeline—we will figure out what works for you.

How long are sessions?

Sessions are 50 minutes and typically happen weekly. Consistency matters — having a regular, protected time to slow down and sort through things is where a lot of the change happens.

Do you offer in-person or virtual sessions?

Both. I see clients in person on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, and I offer virtual sessions for clients located anywhere in New York state.

Do you work with parents too?

For teen clients, I often meet with parents at the start and check in periodically. Confidentiality is essential for teens, but also parents deserve clarity and support. We will agree together on how communication will work.

What are your fees, and do you take insurance?

My standard fee is $200 per 50-minute session. I hold a limited number of sliding-scale spots and am always open to a conversation about what's workable — please just ask. I am an out-of-network provider and can provide superbills for you to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Not sure what your plan covers? Call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask: 1. Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits? 2. What is my out-of-network deductible, and how much have I met? 3. After my deductible, what percentage of each session is reimbursed? 4. Is there a limit on the number of sessions covered each year?

What do you specialize in?

I work with teens, young adults, and adults navigating anxiety, life transitions, relationships, self-esteem, school and career stress, family dynamics, and the overwhelm of modern life.
